Mongolia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change and BCM Host Inaugural International Investment Advisory Panel at COP29

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia/ Байгаль орчин, уур амьсгалын өөрчлөлтийн яам held the inaugural meeting of the International Investment Advisory Panel in collaboration with the Business Council of Mongolia during COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The inaugural meeting of the International Investment Advisory Panel of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change took place on 21 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29 Azerbaijan), which was held in Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024.

During the meeting, the advisory panel discussed plans to strengthen Mongolia's capacity to adapt to climate change, accelerate the energy transition, and enhance energy security. The panel explored opportunities to promote sustainable finance, develop actionable investment plans, and identify pathways for partnerships to achieve these objectives.

Discussions also centered on engaging the private sector in preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which Mongolia will host in 2026. The panel reviewed proposals and recommendations for activities to be implemented during 2025–2026 in preparation for the conference.

Additionally, the panel is focused on establishing international partnerships that align with Mongolia’s climate-related projects and programs. Emphasis was placed on developing collaborative strategies and mobilizing resources to advance Mongolia’s environmental objectives on a global scale.

The international advisory panel includes representatives from the Business Council of Mongolia, Mongolia Green Finance Corporation, Envision Group, Rio Tinto, Newcom Group, ORDA Wealth Tech Platform, Greran Group, Худалдаа хөгжлийн банк / Trade and Development Bank, and URECA. The panel consists of the five board members of the Business Council of Mongolia, along with its member organizations, with BCM also serving as the secretariat for the advisory panel.
