Purpose:
Climate policy is becoming an increasingly important determinant of the business environment. The renewed and increasedambition of climate pledges that came out of COP26 will spur new regulations, support green innovation and make additionalfinancing available. This will lead to a significant transformation of global business in the coming decades. BCM Monthly meeting intends to help businesses and investors understand where and how climate pledges have the potential to change the business environment.

11:00 – 11:40 How will emerging markets benefit from new carbon trading rules?
At the COP26, amid pledges to phase out the use of coal and reduce methane emissions, world leaders agreed to reform global carbon markets and improve rules about carbon trading, seen as key tools in the transition towards decarbonization. Carbon trading rules could determine how an emissions reduction achieved in onecountry can be sold to another country and, potentially, to a company. Emerging markets will be benefiting fromthe increased renewables investment.
